News: 'Candyman' fans will have to wait longer...

The sequel to the '92 cult hit is not coming out this year!

The Nia DaCosta helmed sequel to Candyman has been awaited eagerly by the fans. There is a lot excitement because the film has been written by Jordan Peele, the man behind recent smashes like Get Out and Us.

Though Candyman himself never got as famous as Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, the character has developed a loyal fan following. The director of this latest version, Nia DaCosta looks all set for a breakthrough - she has been snapped up by Disney to do the Captain Marvel sequel.

But the fans will have to do a little more waiting as it does not seem Candyman is appearing anytime soon - in your mirror or theaters!

MGM, Universal and Peele's own company Monkeypaw Productions were committed to release the film in theaters. Dues to the ongoing pandemic, they have decided to push the original October '20 release to 2021. The film was initially a Summer 2020 release.

The new film is about an artist played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman) developing an obsession about the legend while living in the same gentrified neighborhood where the original took place in.

Both the director and the actor are fans of the character and can't wait to share their vision with us. If only Covid-19 allows!
